The Youth Bureau is a County funded planning and coordinating agency aimed at fostering the positive development of youth. Funding from the State Office of Children and Family Services is allocated by the Board to organizations serving Tioga County youth, up to age 21, who provide programs that meet the following priorities:
Parenting Education The Youth Bureau will fund programs that focus on early prevention efforts for families that demonstrate the programming is evidence based and strengthens family functioning.
Afterschool and Recreation Programs The Youth Bureau will fund afterschool and recreational programs that offer opportunities for children to learn physical, emotional and social skills in an inclusive and engaging environment.
Youth Development Programs The Youth Bureau will fund youth development programs that are designed to provide positive youth development activities that promote physical, mental and social well-being, and community involvement.
The Youth Bureau operates with an advisory board consisting of representation from throughout the County. The Youth Board is comprised of representatives from towns, villages and schools. The Board assists with needs assessments, allocation of funding and special projects. Please contact the Youth Bureau if you are interested in becoming a Youth Board member.
